American leader Donald Trump has announced agreements intended to reduce the cost of in-demand weight-loss medications, as drug prices emerge as a priority in his leadership's messaging about cost-effectiveness.

Major Arrangements with Pharmaceutical Companies

Addressing the public with pharmaceutical officials at the executive mansion, the President revealed agreements with the pharmaceutical company and Novo Nordisk. Consumers are expected to pay between $245 and $350 monthly for obesity drugs like Wegovy and Eli Lilly's medication.

Many glucagon-like peptide-1 medications, prescribed for diabetes and obesity, are priced at more than $1,000 monthly lacking coverage or discounts.

Expanded Availability to Government Healthcare Programs

The arrangements will expand Eli Lilly's and the manufacturer's availability to the federal health program and the state-federal health plan, the public health programs for elderly and low-income individuals.

Eli Lilly also announced in a statement it would avoid taxes for three years as included in the agreement with the Trump administration.

Cost Information
