The striker is now a member of the Championship side only half a year following starting disrespectful chants directed at the team's coach, Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has signed a deal with the Championship strugglers through the winter. His seven-year time with Leeds was ended through agreement in August.

One of the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player included starting abusive chants regarding Wilder during the club’s promotion party this spring. Now, the one-cap England international is set to play under Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to pull the team he loves out of the bottom places.

Previous Conflict Between the Striker and the Manager

Both men had a past prior to Leeds won promotion to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager described the forward as a "muppet" when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won direct promotion while Leeds United missed out in the playoffs.

Making Amends & Moving Forward

All seems to have been put behind them with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of improvement up front while Bamford looking to revive his playing days.

The song about Wilder went viral this spring. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Spoke with Pat recently and I’ve no issue at all with it. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow professional! But I valued and respected him calling me.

“We had a short while and similarly I spoke to Daniel Farke too and had a half-hour chat with him and he's a great person, a class act. When I was playing we would give it and take it and that is part and parcel of the game at every level, including a Sunday morning. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I said that to Patrick.”

Recent Career Challenges

Bamford featured in 18 appearances for Leeds in the previous campaign but the ex- Forest, Chelsea and Boro striker has faced difficulties with injury in recent years.
