Study Reveals Alarming Figures
A report titled “Until the Danger Ceases” submitted information requests to youth protection agencies across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Data from 135 local authorities indicated that out of two thousand three hundred thirty-five minors classified as having been victimized or potentially exploited, 864 (thirty-seven percent) were recorded as vanished.
Overall 141 government bodies replied to inquiries about unaccompanied minor refugees in their care, who totaled eleven thousand nine hundred ninety-nine young people. Of these, 1,501 (thirteen percent) were listed as disappeared.
High Risk for Vulnerable Young People

Structural Deficiencies in Protection
Government bodies have a legal obligation to safeguard and support exploited and lone minors under minor welfare structures. However, there is no released central government data on the issue.
The latest analysis alerts that considerations such as uncertain legal status can increase young people’s exposure to continued risk, placing them at serious threat of re-exploitation and continued manipulation.
Appeals for Intervention
The report states there is a “ongoing and major shortcoming” in care and urges government bodies and police forces to make certain following of good practice.
The researchers also encourage the National Education Department to make certain all exploited and lone minors can receive appropriate accommodation that protects them from being re-victimized.
Housing Issues
