Yet, Brighton are the Seagulls, who have won in their previous three visits to Old Trafford, plus six out of seven fixtures head-to-head.

United decided on two adjustments in the wake of their 2-1 win against Liverpool. Šeško is selected instead of Mount, relegated to the bench, while last week’s win-securing hero Maguire is absent entirely, Yoro steps in in defence.

He sustained a knock during training this week. Tyrell Malacia is named on the bench for the first time this season.

Brighton & Hove Albion make one alteration after their 2-1 home win against the Magpies. It’s ostensibly a defensive one, swapping in De Cuyper replacing Gómez, who drops to the bench.

Danny Welbeck, formerly of United champions in back in 2013, returns to Old Trafford with great momentum with four recent goals, one more than he’d managed from 15 prior games.
