🔗 Share this article Jets Head Coach Glenn Confident Kris Boyd Will Make a Full Recovery After NYC Shooting Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has stated that he has been in contact with defensive back Kris Boyd and is confident the athlete will recover well after suffering a gunshot wound in central New York in the early hours of Sunday. Glenn noted that Boyd, currently in the hospital, was “upbeat” during their recent conversation. “That’s what eases my mind, is that he’s feeling positive,” Glenn commented. “His family, they are holding up and he will walk away from this just fine.” It remained unclear when Boyd could be discharged the medical facility, where his condition is described as serious yet stable. “Don’t know just yet,” the coach said. “Yet I must mention, just talking to him, he felt really upbeat. Once more, that puts my mind at ease, because of his outlook and he expresses himself so positively.” New York police released security footage Monday of an individual wanted in the attack on the player. A motive for the shooting remains under investigation and police mentioned it remains uncertain if Boyd was the intended victim. No other injuries according to reports. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning near MSG and the iconic square. Boyd, twenty-nine, was transported to a local hospital after being shot in the abdomen, according to authorities. The shooter fled the scene. Glenn said Boyd has been in his thoughts “a ton” since he heard about the shooting. The coach said that Boyd and his spouse recently welcomed a baby. “What immediately crossed my mind, he has a new baby,” Glenn noted. “And I’m thinking about his wife, considering his child and I hope he recovers fully. That was my main concern. “There is a procedure involved, I’ll keep private, but I am pleased that his outcome looks very positive.” Boyd hasn’t played during the current season, his debut year with New York, after being placed on injured reserve on 18 August with a shoulder issue that involved surgical repair. Boyd came to New York as an unrestricted free agent in spring and was anticipated to become a significant contributor of an improved special teams group under Glenn and ST coordinator Chris Banjo. But Boyd was injured during preseason drills on August 2 and had to be helped off. Boyd continued to be present during the entire campaign while working his way back. “He’s been a part of what we’re doing,” Glenn said. “I mean, he attends every game. He is completely involved. As one of the league’s best on special teams, he has been instrumental in guiding others.” Boyd, a Texas native, spent his initial four years with Minnesota after getting drafted in the seventh round by the Vikings out of the University of Texas in 2019. He signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 and moved to Houston’s squad after that. Boyd agreed to a one-year deal for $1.6 million with New York in the spring.
