Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities report that a ex- physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
