Brian Eno Urges Backing to Send Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The effort seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of producers and composers. The song features a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The team running the initiative have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions won't make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
